Yesterday was a tragic day for a certain fast food franchise. If I were to rank the three worst things that have ever happened to Wendy's they would be: 1) the death of Dave Thomas, 2) the invention of the vanilla frosty (why mess with perfection?), and 3) June 25th, 2008 (the end of a legacy).
For those of you that don't know, for the past four years since returning home from our missions Dave, Spencer and I have had a weekly tradition called Wednesday Night Wendy's. We gather each week to enjoy a burger, talk about sports, classes, history, girls, politics, fantasy sports, and just keep great friendships alive. Dave gets the same thing almost every time, so he must have eaten about 150 1/2lb Double Cheeseburgers with medium fries and a medium chocolate frosty, except the one time he got a vanilla frosty and we made fun of him the entire night. We have missed weeks here and there, especially as we began to get really busy with school, work, and as one by one we each got married. While we can always hope that in the future the three of us will live close enough to rekindle this tradition I don't want to keep my hopes too high. Yesterday was quite possibly the last ever Wednesday Night Wendy's (Spencer and Dave, we should trademark this term and let others fight over Monday McDonalds, Tuesday Taco Bell, and Friday Fazolis). Spencer leaves Tuesday for grad school in Buffalo and in a month Dave will be leaving for law school in Omaha . Below is a picture Spencer took of Dave and I with our last Wendy's meal together.

Who is posting....
FYI: hopefully you can tell by the writing styles (Jorden's entries will include exaggeration), but Jorden and I will be posting under different titles. Jorden's posts are written by Jo-Dan and mine will be under the alias BroncoFan (Except the first that she did under mine).
The Best Part of the Bees Game
Jorden forgot to mention the best part of the Bees game....the 6th installment to my bobblehead collection for my desk at work. That now makes it (in the order they were received) Mickey Mouse the golfer bobblehead (from our Disneyland trip),
John Elway bobblehead (from our first anniversary trip to the Broncos game),
Dwight Schrute bobblehead (Christmas gift),
Trevor Hoffman bobblehead (from the Padres game we went to),
Kenneth the page bobblehead (Valentine's day),
and now I'm the proud owner of a Famous San Diego Chicken bobblehead. Don't be too jealous!

The original white meat...
Tonight we had the pleasure of attending a Bees game with the in-laws. I grew up on professional baseball, attending Mariners games as frequently as I could at $5 a seat hoping that I would catch a close up glimpse of Russ Davis. Who is Russ Davis, you ask? Well, he was the third baseman for the Mariners from 1996-1999, and he hit 20 or more home runs for three straight seasons from 97-99...as well as the very first home run in Safeco Field. He was also on the team at the same time as Ken Griffey Jr. and Alex Rodriguez so, needless to say, I was probably the only person in the entire ball park cheering on Russ.
I continue to enjoy professional and semi-professional baseball to this day, but for entirely different reasons. While at the games, I enjoy several activities, including (but not limited to):
1) mullet counting (tonights count was low...I only saw 5 mullets)
2) thinking up baby names (tonights internal debate revolved around the topic "Should we, or should we not use family names?")
3) people watching...people of interest to me include small children (because they are oh so cute), people who drink more than 6 beers (they are interesting for sooooo many reasons), people on dates (preferably first dates...they are fun to watch), and "little people" (which I believe is the politically correct term, right?)
During my many years of baseball watching, I have never really had much interest in the mascots. They were just...there. Nothing special. In fact, they were kind of annoying. And the Bee was no different. However, tonight the Bee was joined by the Famous San Diego Chicken. And I have to admit, it was one of the most entertaining ball games I have ever been to. Dan informed me that the Chicken was the very first mascot, and Wiki reports that he was voted one of the 100 most powerful people in sports. And apparently, during the first Holiday Bowl (BYU vs Navy), the Chicken came out and started some sort of ruckus, causing the security guards to eject him from the game...which also forced the crowd to chant "We want the Chicken" instead of cheering for BYU, who eventually lost the game. Below, you will find a video clip of some of the Chicken's "antics"...I know you are not all sports fans, but I highly recommend this video.

Finally...
After months of wanting to create a blog, Dan recently informed me that we have had a blog for almost a year...with nothing on it. So I finally took the time to try and figure this thing out. You will need to be patient, as I am slightly computer illiterate and am unsure if anything I have to say will be of interest to anyone on the net (seeing as how I frequently have diarrhea of the mouth). The purpose of this blog is to share all the fun and exciting things that we do on a daily basis with all you poor, unfortunate souls who do not have the pleasure of seeing us every day. It took me about an hour to figure out how to put the first picture on here, so this is definitely a work in progress...but at least I'm trying, right?
